Record of Decision (ROD)

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Pinedale Anticline on Friday, September 12, 2008.  This has been an in-depth process and we appreciate all of the community participation that has helped shape the ROD.  With this milestone, Ultra, Shell and Questar can continue to help our country efficiently meet its energy needs.

The following quotes are excerpts from comment letters submitted during the first draft comment period that ran December 2006 - April 2007.  The letters may also be viewed in their entirety by clicking on the name of the author.

"I appreciate the willingness of the proponents to work on a multi-operator proposal such as has been undertaken with this DSEIS effort.  A successful collaborative effort could provide additional socio-economic benefits to the local communities and the State by leveling out the seasonal drilling, completion and operational fluctuations. But equally important is the unmatched opportunity to provide a model for habitat and environmental mitigation which will lead to increased habitat function at the end of the natural gas development play."

"DEQ believes that if the following mitigation measures were addressed, the PAPA project could be undertaken with out creating unacceptable air quality impacts."

"Given that gas development on the PAPA will proceed according to federal process, WGFD and the operators have focused on developing a plan that will adequately accommodate development while minimizing disturbance and impacts to wildlife and their habitats, provide mitigation for unavoidable impacts to maintain as much of the natural habitat function as possible, and provide timely and appropriate reclamation following disturbance."

"The 100+ photos I took over the past two years will also show that the winter pad drilling activity I am involved with has little, if any effect on the deer herds that are wintering on the Pinedale Anticline."
