Development Areas & Year-Round Access

We coordinate our drilling efforts to focus activity in Development Areas (DAs), with designated areas for year-round development. DAs allow us to concentrate activity at given times in predictable parts of the PAPA. This managed development leaves large contiguous blocks of habitat available to big game and sage grouse and can help conserve migration corridors.

With year-round access in designated areas per the 2008 SEIS Record of Decision (ROD), we work in an area and initiate interim reclamation before moving to a new section of the PAPA, which also minimizes the potential for impacts to wildlife.

Predictable year round access in portions of the Development Areas (DAs) allows us to initiate reclamation efforts earlier and invest in liquids gathering systems and emission reduction technologies. This map displays the five DAs for the PAPA.
